A historic warehouse conversion, on the River Thames
Once the largest rice mill and warehouse on the Thames, Globe Wharf is now 138 apartments with a Grade II listed Victorian facade.
Welcome
Globe Wharf is a residential conversion of a landmark riverside warehouse, owned and managed by leaseholders.
Set on the south bank between Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf, the building is home to a mix of long-standing owners and tenants. This site is the practical centre of life here: a single place for the things residents, buyers and managing agents need most, from the building’s story to how to find us and the guides that keep the building running smoothly.

History
From rice mill and warehouse to riverside home.
Globe Wharf was built in the early 1880s as a rice mill and warehouse, one of a chain of granaries and wharves that lined this stretch of the Pool of London that stretched from London Bridge to Limehouse. Barges drew up at the river frontage; sacks were hauled through the loading doors that still mark the facade today.
The yellow stock brick, the cast-iron window frames painted that unmistakable red, and the galleried internal courtyard are all original, protected as part of a conservation area that runs the length of Rotherhithe Street.
By the late twentieth century the river trade had moved on to container ships downriver. Rather than demolish, the wharf was carefully converted to housing in the late 1990s, keeping the warehouse character intact while turning storage floors into comfortable apartments that retain many of the building’s original features and fittings.
Built as a rice mill and warehouse serving the Port of London river trade.
Decades as a grain and rice store, barges loading directly from the Thames.
Sensitively converted to residential use, preserving the protected facade and many of the original features and fittings.
A freehold owned and leaseholder managed community.
